German B2 phrases: forum post and complaint letter

In short
In Goethe B2 you write a forum post (about 150 words, four content points, 60 points). In telc B2 you choose one of two tasks; in the model test both are complaints (at least 150 words, three points, 45 points). Each has set phrases: in the forum, opinion, reasons, alternatives and advantages; in the complaint, expectation, what happened, your demand and what you will do if nobody replies.

Tone earns points
- Stay factual: "Das ist eine Frechheit" sounds rude. "Das entspricht nicht Ihrer Anzeige" says the same and fits the register.
- Be specific: number, date, amount. "Erst nach fünf Wochen" convinces more than "sehr spät".
- ihr in the forum, Sie in the complaint: a forum usually addresses "ihr", a company always "Sie".

Frequently asked questions
How many words is the telc B2 complaint?
The booklet asks for at least 150 words. You cover three points: three of the four printed, or two plus one of your own.
How do I start a forum post in German?
With a sentence linking to the discussion, for example "Ich habe die Diskussion zum Thema … verfolgt und möchte meine Sicht ergänzen."
How do I make a demand politely?
"Ich erwarte daher, dass Sie …" or "Ich bitte Sie, … bis zum … zu …". Give a date.
Do I use du or Sie in the forum post?
In a forum, "ihr" is usual. In a complaint to a company you always write "Sie".
