Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible

MockDeutsch, Plot 4010, Namasuba, Kampala – Entebbe Road, Kampala, Uganda. Email: kontakt@mockdeutsch.com. We process data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR wherever they apply to you, and in line with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act.

2. What we process and why

• Account: your email address and, if you give them, your name and a password (stored only as a secure hash), so you can sign in on any device. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
• Practice and results: your answers, texts, scores and analyses, so you can see your results and progress.
• Voice recordings: when you record in a speaking part, we store the recording so it can be marked and you can listen to it again. You start every recording yourself.
• Purchases: order, amount, time and the payment reference. We never receive your card details.

3. Legal basis

We process this data to provide the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and to keep records the law requires (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Cookies

We use only technically necessary cookies: one that links your browser to your account, one that remembers your language, and one for schools that accompany your practice. No advertising or analytics cookies, no tracking.

5. Who receives data

• Google (Gemini API, USA): AI marking of writing, reading pages you photograph, and writing your personal advice. Sent: your text or photos and the task, not your email address. Basis: the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
• OpenAI (USA): AI marking of speaking, the live voices in the speaking part, and marking writing when Google is unavailable. Sent: your recording or text and the task, not your email address. Basis: the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
• Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom): the seller of record for purchases. Paddle processes your email address, country and payment details under its own privacy policy. Your card details never reach us.
• Hosting, database, file storage and email: processors acting on our instructions, with servers in the EU where possible.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your account, results and recordings as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; we then delete all practice data and recordings. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires.

7. Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, data portability, and you can object to processing. Write to kontakt@mockdeutsch.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to a data protection authority.
